Fabric Charms

Okay...I'm officially addicted! I made my first two fabric charms and what fun! I learned how to use one of those eyelet gizmos and of course it took me a little bit of time to figure it out.

Anyways, we are having a charm swap at SurfaceDesign so I am going to have to make a few of these puppies. Here are my first two... The charms are only 1 x 1. I'll also probably attach something to them as far as beads...but we shall see. The great thing is you can take PC's you were going to throw away and use them! The first charm is sketched from ink and the second one is from a stamp that I thread painted. This is what I did for the charms. Also, I used silk fusion on the back. Next time, I'll try and match the silk fusion to the thread if possible.

Journals

At Surface Design we are doing a journal trade, so I am thinking of participating. I created this journal from the grids of ribbon I did with the Aquabond. I also used angelina and various metallic paints. I painted on black MistyFuse with the metallic paint. I first started out with a puff paint background but it didn't work well. So, then I added the other layers and wallaaahh. Also, I have a bit of melted purple cellophane in there for texture. I thought instead of journal why not a sketch book cover? So, I also added two side pockets for pencils and pens.

Earth Day 2007

Hello all,

I am setting up a new blog called 2007EarthDayAuction. It will feature artists and their respective work they wish to contribute to a charity to help celibrate "Earth Day". We will be having an auction on the items shown with the proceeds going to either the Rain Forest Action Network or the World Wild Life Fund. This is a great way to give back to the environment. So, I invite you to add the blog to your list and look for updates of great items to bid on or to even contribute. We welcome it all!!!

Any questions, email me! Or, respond in the comments!

PC's and Silk Ribbon

I wanted to share a couple of Christmas PC's I have received. The first one is from Helen, who did a lovely Christmas tree.

The second is from Jan, who does beautiful backs as well as fronts. I think I need to take some lessons from her on doing lovely backs.

A while back, I got this lovely ATC from Dale. Isn't it great? She used the copper tissue on it. I love everything she does.
Also, I must say I am disappointed I didn't know about the journal bidding on workshopsontheweb. Check out this link...even though it's too late to bid. Bookaid. http://www.workshopontheweb.com/bookaid/bookaid.htm

Also, about a month and a half ago Judith Montano came to our quilt guild. I had once checked out her book "Elegant Stitches" from the library and thought this is a great book to have. Well, since she was there, I bought her book and some of her hand dyed silk ribbons and floss. This book is such an excellent book to have if you don't own it. I wasn't able to stay for her lecture or take her workshop but I am sure they both were amazing.

New Addition

We have a new addition to our family. Her name is Laura and she was born on November 26th. She is 8lb 3 oz. I don't think I will be doing anything to big or bold for some time to come. As you can see my hands will be full......
