Tassels

I am doing a tassel trade on surface design. Boy...what a learning curve. The first one took forever because I kept doing things I didn't like...but now I have a theme and I like them. I have a couple more to do but here are the first two. These have novelty threads and sari thread.

Cool things

Cool things..
I got some great embellishing powder that is on order. I can't wait to try it. Check out the link here. It's scented embossing powder isn't that just the coolest. I got the lime.

Also, I was looking in a book I have and came across and idea for webbing. I'll post pictures of my experiments..isn't this nifty...webbing in a can!

I went to this bead store for the first time and I think my eyes went up two sizes. Here's the loot I came out with... I think I am particularly found of the imagine, hope charms.

And, thank you to Debbi, who made this fabulous postcard from my "stained fabrics". Isn't it terrific!

Little MaryJanes

I had to try these little MaryJanes. They were originally for a paper pattern. So, my first prototype was paper. I'm thinking I should have double sided the paper. Also, not too crazy about the color of the paper I chose.

Then, I made them in fabric. Aren't they just too cute? I'm thinking these would be great embellished as well.

Monster Stamp

Some of you have asked where I got my rubberstamps in the last post, I got them from addictedtorubberstamps.com.

And, here is another one I got from there. It's a Klimt stamp. And, I must say it's the "mother of all stamps"! I can't wait to use it. I am not sure how it will look with friendly plastic but this is one idea...and there's also angelina!

Anyways...I love that store! They also have great accessories so go wander around!

Ode to the Art Masters

I finished my second card for "Ode to the Art Masters" in Surface Design. This is from a sculpture by Dimitri Chiparus. The back of the card I decided to stamp it with the stamp that was done similar to his work as well. And, don't you just dig the little stamp? It reads..."Now I know this may be hard for you to believe but.. I MADE THIS! Don't just stand there dumbfounded get excited or something"

A Sneak Peek

I really love the era of art deco...so I was thrilled when SurfaceDesign had a art deco PC challenge. I also joined in on Angela's group as well. Here is a sneak peek of what I am working on. This is a picture from a statue made by Dimitri Chiparus. His work is now public domain. Also, I am showing another picture of a statue that I think would be great to explore as well. But for now....I love this dancer. It's funny too because a few weeks ago I got a stamp and guess what it was this same dancer. While I was doing some research on art deco, I came across Dimitri Chiparus.

Mags and Cards

I got this fantastic and thoughtful gift from Mags. I just love it! If you ever get something from Mags, you know it is going to be special. This is done with nappy liners. Can you believe it? And, I love how she does her cording. I just think it's the greatest thing that we are all able to get to know one another through the internet and appreciate each other's art.
Thank you Mags!!!

Also, I bought a few handmade cards..They are just so special. If I had more hours in the day, I am thinking this would be another hobby for me! Recently, I've been buying a few rubber stamps. I never thought I would get into them...but they can be really cute. Check out that cow! Isn't he just the cutest and I love that saying (huh?)! I saw this card and I said I want one too! So, I scowered ebay and found this cow stamp as well. So, you may see her in a fiber composition. It brings me back to when I went to Switzerland and I couldn't believe all these cows just roaming around so freely and they were so big! And, I just loved hearing the jingle of the bells around their necks. They really are these big sweet animals.

Last Call!!!

For those of you who would like to contribute, please email me. We need to start to receive the items for the Greenpeace auction now. It's so sad what is happening to our oceans and forests. Here is a picture of a poster I was sent from Greenpeace. Please contribute if you can.

charm'd and earth day

I've got a scanner now! Here is what I have received with charms...with the exception of the butterfly which I did.

Also, here is my contribution to our earthday auction... along with a square'd PC. Please check out the earth day auction and if you want to contribute please notify me as the deadline is just about here.

Also, I got a few comments about how I did the mitered corners. I have a Pfaff which has a tappered edge stitch...otherwise in order to do the mitered corners you have to decrease your satin stitch width as you are sewing..quite an art form! We were practicing this in a Libby Lehman class, who is an expert at this. But, I prefer to work with the tappered edge stitch.

Postcards

I've made these postcards with the theme black and white and one color. However, I decided to use shades of grey instead. I got a good grasp on doing mitered corners and I think this would be a great concept to explore in a larger scale.

I also used my "stained fabric", which has become my number one choice to use in these and my upcoming PC's to be shared later!

Charm Bookmark and WIP

I've made these cute little charm bookmarks. They are not too difficult to make and can use them as bookmarks. I got thes 4 inch paper clips at Staples and attached a 1 1/2 inch charm. I also tried it with a 1 inch charm but I don't think it's big enough.
They are double sided charms.

Also, Debbi has been working on a great scene with some fabrics I sent to her. She was seeing a sea scene in the fabrics. This is funny because this is what I saw too! I am happy with my WIP post cards. I'll post pictures when I am done.

Teapot and TAST

I received this great teapot from Sue. She made it with some of my favorite themes...retro romance comics. I just love it! Thank you Sue! I especially like how she thought about the placement of the images. For example, on the spout is a classic kissing scene.

Also, I haven't been doing any cross stitch lately since my time is very limited. But, here is a flower fairy I did a while back that I haven't quite decided what I'll do with it. I also bought some really big flower fairy cross stitches. But, I'm thinking I won't get to these for 10 years. I also have these teddy bear cross stitches I've been working on for two years on and off. I'll post them some other day.

Here is a picture that is not so great (a little fuzzy) but it is from my husband's grandmother who loved to do cross stitch. I love it! I have it hanging in our computer room/children's play area. But, I think every room in my house is a playroom.

Lastly, here is a recent picture of Laura. She is so cute and such a great baby! I love that she's got these big pudgy legs and face. And, she loves to smile now! My son is about 2 1/2 and is quite a rebel, he loves to be mischievous!
